Dreaming of spending Valentine’s Day in the most romantic city in the world? Don’t limit yourself to the 14th of February. Paris is the perfect city for a romantic getaway, ANY day.
First, check and book flights. Skyscanner is a great app for that.
Make hotel, lunch and dinner reservations online with the information provided in my descriptions and recommendations.
Next, look at hotels. My personal favorite is a small, boutique hotel located in the heart of the Latin Quarter: Les Dames du Pantheon, of the Rive Gauche Collection.
Address: 19 Pl. du Panthéon, 75005 Paris, France
Intimate, charming and unique with a view of the Pantheon and rooms named for les belles dames of French history. Their Valentines special includes rose petals, champagne and a delicious breakfast.
You’ve arrived! Time to sample the most luscious, absurdly beautiful pastries Paris has to offer. And here I recommend the world-renowned Stohrer Patisserie on Rue Montorgeuil.
The oldest patisserie in Paris, founded by the man who supplied King Louis XV with pastries. Talk about classic French masterpieces executed to perfection: chocolate, coffee, and caramel éclairs, their signature baba au rhum rum-soaked cake, raspberry and lemon tarts, mont blancs for one or many, every flan imaginable. And heavenly chocolate everything.
Window shopping in this city is a cherished pastime. And my favorite area is Le Marais for eclectic and high-fashion, high-quality chains, vintage stores, artisan and handcrafted jewelry, antiques and fine art galleries, cosmetics, and perfumeries. It’s all here.
Take the Metro Saint-Paul (Line 1) or Hotel de Ville (Line 1, 11). The main streets to wander are Rue des Francs-Bourgeois, Place des Vosges, Rue de Turenne, Rue des Rosiersdome.
Find it at 44 Rue Vieille-du-Temple, 75004. They will ask for your reservation confirmation email. Then peruse the menu of Le Colimacon and tell me you’re not immediately transported to this cozy, elegant bistrot and thoroughly intoxicated with all things Parisienne. The exquisite building that houses this restaurant dates from 1732. It was built by the architect Louis Le Tellier opposite the former Hôtel des Ambassadeur. It’s charming. The food is amazing. Stay long enough for un digestif. Next, a stroll back with stops along the way to examine works of streetside art. People watching is also an official French pastime. Finally, grab a cab and head off in anticipation of your next planned luxury…
Considered one of the most intimate spa experiences in Paris, the Maison Souquet offers the luxurious indulgences for the perfect Valentine’s Day.
The impossibly chic boutique hotel that is Maison Soquet—a former ‘pleasure house’ located just a minute from the Moulin Rouge and featuring eclectic decor and a decadent spirit—is home to one of Paris’ most exclusive spas.
The spa’s ceiling is celestially-inspired, featuring gold stars glinting across a cobalt blue sky. You can lie on your back in the 10-metre swimming pool and pretend you’re swimming in the ocean on a cloudless night. It’s like something out of a fairy tale and has a definite wow-factor.
